Welcome to author Braith Maxwell's website!
Greetings, Ladies and Gentlemen!
The Makennan Novantumus series. What's this epic fantasy genre about? A pig farmer's son learns the Art of Sorcery upon the famed Isle of Gnarus and becomes enmeshed in an ancient prophecy which ultimately threatens not only the world of Ea'dred but its entire Sphere of Existence. Allying with a dark elf of Everdeep, Arrinae Ot'Lythiust, these two are fated to be eternal allies and adversaries as forces both within and beyond the Pantheon itself strive to rend asunder the Balance of Spheres. A mad queen. A deific Lich Lord who betrays every one of his fellows. An alien artifact and a World Eater on the loose. A great Foe from the beginnings of Time revealed. An enduring love like no other. Beyond magic and sanity the rabbit hole goes deep indeed as the sorcerer Makennan is reshaped in ways he could never have imagined!
Solid and epic high fantasy. The first of the series begins with the low-born mage willingly entangled amidst the Court of the City-Kingdom of Loomdrake Thrakenscale. The Lady of Magic, Vishanti, is imprisoned and defiled, ripped from her domains of Conjurey. The Planes of Existence are conflicted and the very Sphere of Existence cracked. Tangled within the warp and weft of Ea'dred's weave, Makennan strives to moderate another's hedonistic insanity. Betrayals abound within a grand web of lies and fields of secrets of the Compact of City-Kingdoms. All greatness begins as a seed of humble origins.
Book II brings Makennan to further heights and greater depths of loyalty, betrayal, love and hate as his understanding of Magic and place within Fate's knot-work expand to Realms that raise even the deities to a place of awe! Greatness. A dash of crazy never hurt to grease things along. The tide of stakes rises even higher. A rogue god seeks to cast every Sphere of Existence down the rapacious gullet of Entropy to rule alone over the Voided Cosmos. When patience is ended and Vendetta is served, herculean and insane minds of the Far Realms then arrive to resolve an ancient grudge with an Archmage's daughter.
I hope you enjoy these novels as much as I've loved crafting it. Start a discussion about the art of High Fantasy or take a poll on the colorfully rich background materials for Book I of the Novantumus Series.
